I did not realize there was a menopause site on this board. I was writing in on cervical cancer board and know one replied.

I am 42 and am in full blown menopause. I started HRT a year ago. I do not like to take chemicals so I was taking half of each pill (forgot their names estrogen and Progesterone) well anyways I have HPV and am worried about the cc thing. I started taking some natural supplements and quit the HRT cold turkey this past Saturday. Well yesterday I started getting crampy and a little bit of what looked like old bllod was on the tissue when I wiped. Today I am a little crampy but no blood. This morning I woke up with a fuzzy head and have felt like pardon the expression crap all morning. I finally gave in and took two of the halves of HRT.

Is this normal stuff for withdrawls I am freaking out. I am seeing my doc on Monday for my yearly but I think the anxiety will do me in before than.

Any advice I would appreciate

Thanks

Hi

thanks for replying. Yes I finished my period a while ago and yes at an early age. I am pretty sure I finished early was becaue I suffered from an eating disorder for many years. It is under control now and has been for quite a while but I think I did some damage to my body. The price we pay for the sins of our past.

I am pretty sure the cramping is from quitting cold turkey. Even though I was taking a small amount for close to a year it has to effect your system if you quit suddenly.

Again thank you.

Hi! I quit hrt cold turkey and also had some spotting. Doc said that this was normal. Are you going to go back on hrt for awhile? If so, what estrogen and progesterone are you taking?

I wanted to stay off hrt (on for 4 yrs), but I'm going to resume by taking bioidenticals. My quality of life has deteriorated since I quit hrt (late Feb.).

Yes, it is from stopping the HRT. Mine were in my luggage that got stranded at an airport from Sunday to Wednesday one time - so I missed all those does. I cramped and spotted. Called the docs office and was told as long as you have ovaries, this can happen.

hi Colleen & tichou;

This all not fair. Why is that we have to go through this. Men don't have to deal with this stuff. What did women do 50 to 60 years ago before HRT.
I am a runner and use to run alot. I dread it now because my recovery from exercise is horendous. I feel fine running but then when I get home the cool down hits hard. I just start sweating like there is no tomorrow. Before I could run 3 miles walk in the door and felt like I had not even exercised.

The type of HRT I am taking is (long name) medroxyprogesterone & estradiol. I have not taken any since Thursday and am feeling ok (knock on wood). Hope to be able to just stop all together.

Thanks

Hi Mskubic

I think to add to the above, yes there are withdrawal symptoms when coming off of HRT especially if you did it suddenly. I have just tapered my HRT after being on for 6 years, first of all I cut the pill in half for one month, then took a quarter of a tablet for the next month. When the time came for the bleed, it was just a spot or two when usually I have a regular bleed. I also feel a little down and depressed and "funny", in an unusual way, I think this is normal though as having taken the drug for 6 years we are going to have effects of "not taking it". I have been told that this lasts for a couple of weeks. I had a terrible headache on the first day of not taking it, but it disappeared after that. I hope this helps.
