First, a little history...

I started working out over a year ago and have managed to stick with it on a pretty regular basis. I was trying to give myself a goal of being able to bench press 200 lbs. by this summer. Well, I'm happy to report that I did 2 proper reps of 200 lbs. on the bench press yesterday! Now I've got to set a new goal for myself. 225 maybe??

I just had to share this news with someone because I was pretty excited by it.

Oh, I'm a 31 year old male who weighs 170 lbs. in case you were wondering.

These boards have offered me a lot of help and information over the last year or so, so thanks and keep it coming.

Great job...it's always nice to reach a goal. When I started working out a few years ago my goal was to be able to do dips. I can now dip with a 45lb plate attached.

Thats pretty good man. I can only bench 205 and im 230 pounds, but im pretty tall though so i got a longer way to push. I started out at 95 pounds about 7 months ago. It was pretty embarassing for awhile.......lol

Screw that... go crazy! Congrats! Hitting those goals that you have to bust your butt to achieve is soooo sweet.

what i meant is if you do chins up or pull ups is it the same as benchpressing as much as you weigh. lets say your 130lb and you can bench press 130lb. and im woundering if you do chin ups would it be the same as bench pressing 130lb

No, iit would not be, chin ups is mainly your upper back muscles. Pull ups is ur biceps and back muscles. bechpressing is a totally different movement mainly your chest.

As an update, I put up 205 lbs. on the bench last Friday. I'm looking at 225 as my goal by the end of June. Wish me luck!!
