How long have you been feeling like this and how did your vertigo start? VM not sur ewhat that means from migraines? I am not having bad headaches a few here and there. I am unsteady 24/7 but dizziness is not always constant but will get a whoosh of it maybe once every two hours?? Yeah I have a 3 1/2 year old daughter McKayla and a 9 month old son Hunter. When was your daughter born?? Have you seen a ENT or just your GP??

Hi Guys....

I am 39, one 6month old, from Maine...and was diagnosed with vn month 9 of my pregnancy. It started when I was in my 8 month pregnant...I woke from a short nap..and had severe vertigo. I was sent into the ER by my obgyn for fear it was pregnancy related. I was sent home hours later and told it was a virus...and given meclizine.

After 24 hours, the severe vertigo was gone and I was left with: Ear fullness, ear pain (on and off), terrible balance, head pressure, head fog, bouncy vision, horrible in stores...bad lighting, terrible in crowds, dizzy 24/7, woozy. No hearing loss...

I got started with vrt exercises and have been doing them religiously for 7 months. Now I am left with: ear pressure (little bit) when I work out hard, woozy but much less, visual crap (much less)....

I am actually having moments of feeling normal.

I imagine that must have been terrifying being pregnant and having vertigo i can't even imagine. Did you have your dr start you on VRT's or did you have to find them on your own?? Have you ever heard of Dr Payton he is an ENT in Portland??

Dizzy...I started basic ones I found on the net then got more taylored exercises when I went to my Ent. If Dr. Payton(I don't know him) doesn't know what to do...let him know about dr. Maxwell in Portland. He specializes in this injury. If you need help on exercise...we all can help.

hi,i started feeling slight symptoms when pregnant, but m gp put it down to my iron levels as they were low. but it persisted after baby was born,it went for 4 weeks then came back for few weeks then went and i thought it had gone, but then i caught a flu virus and it came back worse than ever. this is why i dont think it is VM.I think is VN.My little girl was born july of last year.I have seen gp and specialist about this and have had balance tests done.Am awaiting a follow up from specialist to discuss findings on caloric etc,but they dont rush themselves do they??!!!! I am in england so system here is probs different to yours.I have some good days,(better) days when i dont feel as bad. I went through a depressed stage when all i could do was think how crap i felt, but it didnt get me any where so i thought i would try and get positive, for my husband and little girls sakes.I just want to feel normal again and enjoy all the normal things in life, like shopping and going for walks. I have started to push myself more now as i always feel better when i do,like i have achieved somethin. In all my symptoms have been with me in some form for nearly 18 months.

wow i know it is normal but 18 months and years for some people freaks me out I can't imagine feeling like this that long still clinging to the hope that mine will only last the 6 weeks (which is moday) but since i was on meclizine for four weeks it may be 2 or 3 weeks behind and i would be looking at 10 weeks max that is my hope though lol what does everyone think of my odds???i need a little hope people lol!!

Hi, female, 43. No children.

Dealing with my head symptoms for almost fourteen years.

Symptoms came upon me after walking outside on a very, very cold day. When I came inside, my body felt "funny", as if my upper body was moving one way, and my legs were moving another. This feeling eventually subsided, but then one morning I woke up from a night's sleep (my head was turned completely to the far left) and everything in the room was spinning. This went away after about one month or so, but then soon after, my head symptoms started and have left me with:

A feeling of being in motion when I am not.
Head rocking or swaying.
Unable to lie flat without feeling like I am spinning.
Spatial problems so large or small spaces throw me off.
Unable to walk in a straight line: when I walk or drive, I veer to the right. When I sit, I tilt my head to the left.
Cognitive/concentration problems.
Depression and anxiet/panic attacks.

To name a few.

First diagnosed with BPPV, then Migraine Associated Vertigo (MAV).

Head symptoms have been very bad the last two weeks, not sure if the increases are related to stress.

Hi, 44 years old, 42 when all this started 19 months ago, still have times when I feel I've not improved at all from that first month or so, but I must have, I don't spent days in the house any longer too scared to go out or sit down to eat a meal to find I'm too nauseated to eat it.
Either VM or VN,so they tell me my next appointment is not until August when docs will discuss further dependant upon how I've been since last appointment in February.
Had a bad week this week, I feel like crawling into a corner and never coming out again!!

Hello,
I am 36, 24yrs old when I first had vertigo. Have no idea what I have, although they say it's BPPV. I have had some bouts that last 1-3 days, but also some that last 1-2hours-but once the positional spinning was gone, I was done with it-no more dizzies until the next time. And the episodes were few and far between. I hadn't had an "episode" for about 5 years until my last really big spinning was in July '06; I've been dealing with off balance/headaches/ear fullness/pressure ever since. I'm thinking MAV at this point (possibly hormone related), or some sort of allergies perhaps.
I have 3 adorable kids, 8yrs, 7yrs and 3yrs. :)
I've had tastes of decent days/week here and there since July and when they're gone, I want them back ASAP.
I am not a very patient person, and when it comes to getting better, I hate waiting for Dr appts! One thing I have to get over is hoping before every appt that this is the doctor that's gonna know what I'm talking about! I have to set my expectations very low so if I get anything out of him/her, I won't feel like I've wasted my time.

hey there,
I'm 29 years old, and had my first experience with this in my mid twenties. Lasted 6 months at the time and then i felt great for 4 years. the vertigo and dizziness came back one day after four yearse of feeling fine after getting over a bad case of bronchitis. That last episode lasted a little over 6 months, and to this day I'm still dealing with feeling on and off symptoms. Nothing too bad, and I'm getting stronger everyday. I had and ENG a little while back and it came back with a 35% weakness in my Right Ear. Hope you start feeling better!

Wannarun..... did your symptoms put you off having more children? Did you cope ok? I have a nine month old litttle girl, who is such a happy and good baby. I would like more eventually, but sometimes wonder if i could cope with two, especially when im having one of those weeks. x

You know, my episodes were so few and far between and only lasted a few days at most, that vertigo was not something I even thought about when it was time for kids. When I had my first, I had only had about one/two short episodes and hadn't had one for a couple of years when I first got pregnant; I had two kids 16months apart and didn't have any episodes during that time-I had a few episodes after my second was born, but again only quick lived, never more than a few days recovery. Then I had my 3rd baby when I was 34 and he was 2.5yrs when I had this last vertigo that now won't seem to go away! We are not planning on having any more kids, so I haven't even given this issue any thought. I can see why you are struggling with the decision, pregnancy and having young ones takes a physical toll on you, and adding dizziness on top of it makes it even harder.
Sorry I couldn't be more help! I hope you find something to help you decide. When we were trying to decide to have a 3rd, the one thing that made the choice for me was that I knew I'd look back years from now and regret that I didn't do it. I didn't want to feel that regret, so we went for it, and boy am I glad we did! He's a love!!! But again, I didn't have any health issues to get in the way, I'm sure I would've had to take that into account.
Best wishes!
