I have had sore throat for 6 weeks now. A lot of the times my ears feel clogged too. This all started 4-5 days after my mother came to visit me. She is causing me a lot of stress and I have a lot of anger towards her. She left 2 weeks ago, but my throat is still sore. I am under a lot of stress in my life now. I am about to get divorced and don't know how to support myself. Sometimes I feel like I can't speak at all, I have to make an effort to speak. Yesterday I talked to a friend and she was asking about my soon to be ex husband and my throat hurt so badly that I thought I was going to choke. I am 47 years old and don't smoke, nor does anybody in my environment. I am terrified that this constant throat soreness is something serious. I have seen my regular doctor and he didn't see nor feel anything in my throat. Now I am supposed to see an ent specialist. I have tried different herbs, but nothing helps. The soreness gets worse as the day progresses. I have a lot of anxiety and am taking valium just to stay sane. Any health issues are extremely stressful for me and this prolonged, pretty bad soreness in my throat is making me beyond anxious. I am afraid it could be throat cancer. I grew up with a smoking parent and smoked myself for 13 years when I was younger. Please tell me if any of you has experienced anything similar.

sounds like anxiety to me. i know someone who went through something similar. i'd check with your doc prescribing the valium about it.

Thank you so much for your reassurance. I am seeing the ent specialist on Thursday. Yes, without the valium I wouldn't be able to make it from day to day. I dread the doctor's visit on Thursday, but I really need to know that nothing physical is going on. Thanks again.
