hi I had an exposure 9 months ago 1 week later I suffered from muscle aches tirdness sore throat for about 5 days, afterwards started to look on internet and was shocked how similar the symptoms where to HIV, any way I got PCR test 19 days Neg then a p24 Duo test at 6 weeks Neg then a 3 +4 + 5 + 6 monthstest for antibodies test all neg and also another pcr test at 4months and 2 tsts looking for hiv 1 + 2 but during these months I have had a sore throat for3 months groin and upper leg pains for the last 5months + white toungue build up at back wich can be scraped of but comes back, so with all these symptoms + presistant eye floaters for last 4 months aswell could I be positive I worry that it could be a new strain or type of hiv.

You have been tested negative; to date there is no new strain of HIV that I am aware of.
Symptoms are never a reliable way of diagnosing your HIV status.
Please, please, stop torturing yourself. If in any doubt whatsoever about your HIV status go for another blood test.
Take care Kevin

WHite build up on your tongue? Probably yeast aka fungus. Eat plain yogurt with *active bacteria* at least once a day and brush your teeth 3 times a day. it will go away.
Check yourself for strep throat. mono. etc.

13 tests in 6 months? thats a way bit over reacting, one or 2 tests will confirm your status.they are highly accurate. if you can't get past believing the results of your tests you might need therapy of some sorts because that is taking it to the extreme.

kev how did u get over it?
I breathed the air my friend, I realised that worry, stress and anxiety can be resolved by listening to and accepting the expert opinion of those that have studied and dealt with this virus for many years.
I learnt that we all want to punish ourselves for making mistakes, the bigger the mistake the bigger the punishment. This is not true, we all mess up, and we all make mistakes.
I got over it and moved on, so I now come here to share my awful experience and the mistakes I made, with others that are going through what I went through.
Mate, we all dread the worst, we all, paint the worst case scenario in our minds, reality is far different. Reality is science, medicine and the belief that there are many people out there that know a lot more about HIV than I will ever know.
At some point you have to let go, move on, if not you will simply ruin your entire life. This is your call, if you wish to indulge in a form of self torture continually worrying about your HIV status, I cannot help you. If you on the other hand wish to enjoy your life, live it to the full, then you have to move on.
This is your call. Take care Kevin.

your mind can be a powerful thing that can control alot about your health.
never go by any symptoms when it comes to hiv,you really have to throw them out the window and go by your test results, they are a much more accurate way to know if your infected or not with hiv. don't forget there are other virus's out there that can give you many of the syptoms of hiv. and also when you dwell on your symptoms you can make them alot worse then what they are.some of them could be a minor allergic reaction to a food or many other reasons could cause them. relax and good luck!:)

you are definitely right, it is extreme. i am going through it to. negative at 8 months. my general practitioner tells me she firmly believes in her heart it can take YEARS to show on tests. it's kinda hard for me to get past that, especially when i have had rashes and fevers every day for 9 months. constant oral infection (resembling stomatitis) for almost 9 months solid, never letting up. tested negative for auto-immune.
oral biopsy showed hyperplasia, but benign. it is hard to accept it, when you have dr.'s steering you back. not all dr's have given the same opinion as her, but they still have no answers . it leads me to square one.

starr i dont understand your doc every other propfessional says HIV is one of easiest to detect and difficult to get, how it can it take years to show up in tests I agree symptoms might take years but detection is one of the most vital parts of the medical industry. I just wish I could take it on board, another symptom I was concerned about was greasy facial skin which I have developed about the same time. Im going to doc wed as he thinks it could be a candida problem which is also caused by stress and bad eating. but he has defintley ruled out HIV.

i don't understand it either. i have read on the internet about some VERY RARE cases where it took more than a year to seroconvert-like only 130 EVER. BUT AGAIN, THE VIRAL LOAD WAS <50ML, WHICH MY id SPECIALIST SIAD IS AN absolute NEGATIVE, PAIER WITH NEGATIVE ANTIBODY results.
they all just keep sending me to different dr's---they are all like 2 hrs away, exect for tthis general practitioner, who keeps suggesting HIV. the ID admitted my rash does resemble ARS rash, but it supposedly does not go on this long, and she did agree about symptoms. My mouth is the worst of it, and again, she did agree that does resemble what Aids can do, but she checked my T cells too, which she said were normal, and that supposedly is condidered an opportunistic infection---not effecting someone with out <200 t-cells.
i am so lost i am scared for my children.
there is definitely something wrong, and they just keep sending me home.

you both have no reason to be scared, none at all, lets just say the test results you have are all wrong (i highly doubt that because they are highly accurate) and you are positive, you are not gonna drop dead in a year, your life will not be over, you will still live a productive life for many years!!
how do i know? because i got the bad news back in 1996 and i'm still at it today, that should be proof enough. alot of false info is out there, imo they shouldn't even list symptoms because they mean absolutly nothing in determining your status.all it does is install fears into people that won't accept their results because something else is making them not feel right.
he is something to understand BELIEVE IN YOUR TEST RESULTS!!
not your symptoms, when it comes to hiv.
good luck to both of you :)

what are your dr's telling you? 95% of them say HIV is a no, but all it takes is one bad apple to ruin the bunch.
i am in the same boat as you, i desperately want another baby, and have finally let my husband get close.
i know there is something wrong, but nobody can tell me what it is.
good luck to you.

If you are HIV positive you will test positive within 3 months, period. This is fact; it is the widely accepted opinion of the vast majority of the medical profession.
I was tested neg at four weeks and foolishly did not go back for a second test until some 14 months later. I tested negative then. I believe my blood tests; I see no reason not to.
I was given excellent counseling while at the clinic and spent the better part of an hour discussing HIV with a doctor who works with it everyday. She told me, I am fine, I am in the clear. Plus I have read extensively on HIV, please take it as fact you will test positive within three months if you have been infected with HIV.
Although symptoms may not appear for years, the HIV anti bodies will be in your blood system within the three month period. This is what is tested for. The tests are very, very accurate. I have seen on one web site a professor saying they are 100% accurate.
Please believe your blood test results, please move on from it and stop torturing yourself.
Take care Kevin.

I am trying but I keep thinking back to the coincidence of the symptoms and the timing and cant look beyond HIV as being a possibilty despite the tests. even though I have tested for every type of HIV I keep thinking there must be a new one even though this is tottally irrational thinking.

This is whole point of going for a blood test, because symptoms are never a reliable indicator of your HIV status. Many people get the symptoms that are associated with HIV; they are normal everyday occurrences that people get.
Sore throats, rashes, oral and genital thrush, aching, feeling sick, colds and flu like symptoms effects everybody. These are normal everyday events that most people simply acknowledge when they have them and forget all about them when they have gone away. A lot of the signs and symptoms are, quite literally everyday occurrences that affects everybody now and again, but when you are worried and concerned, your symptoms are amplified. They suddenly become massive events, like they are clear warnings that something is wrong. They are not; they are simply normal everyday occurrences. The list of symptoms and signs of HIV is extensive but they are not cast in stone, many people who have tested HIV positive have had no symptoms, many have some, many have all,but symptoms alone will not prove your HIV status. A blood test will, this is the only, absolute, your tests are absolute, and they are cast in stone.
I really, cannot offer you any more advise , other than if you are still concerned and from what I see, you have no reason to be, than to go back and discuss it with a doctor who works with STD’s and ask if it possible to receive counseling.
Again all I can say, is believe your blood tests, try to move on and breathe the air again.
Try to move on mate, take care Kevin

YOU ARE RIGHT TO AN EXTENT, BUT IT IS soooo HARD WHEN U ARE HAVING SO MANY PROBLEMS, AND HAVE NO ANSWERS. WHEN DR'S KEEP BOUNCING YOU AROUND AND SENDING YOU HOME. SOMETIMES THE NET IS THE ONLY HELP YOU HAVE, BECAUSE IT'S LIKE - I KNOW SOMETHING IS WRONG- AND I JUST CANNOT SIT HERE WAITING, WHEN THERE IS POSSIBLY THINGS TO BE DONE TO MAYBE HELP ME GET BETTER.
I LIVE IN A SMALL TOWN-THE FAMILY DR I AM SEEING HERE IS THE ONE PUSHING ME TOWARDS HIV. THE OTHER 6 DR'S I AM SEEING WHO ARE CONFUSED, AND WITHOUT A DIAGNOSIS ARE 2 HOURS AWAY, SO MAYBE YOU CAN UNDERSTAND WHY I AM AM LOOKING AT THE NET FOR ANSWERS. IT SEEMS LIKE THERE IS NOTHING ELSE I CAN DO.

i can understand that, but let me say, put the hiv behind you, something else is causing what is wrong, not hiv, when you test more then once negative thats what you are negative!
stress will cause alot of those symptoms as well as epsteins barr and a few other things, thats what you should be looking at, not hiv.
i can see what your problem is
you said you live in a small town, thats where your problem lies.
when you go to a big city hospital they are much more through and in tune with alot more and they see alot more then some small town will.
go to a university hospital in a big city and they will figure it out,the small town places don't see enough or have the experiance to figure stuff out that they don't deal with alot of, that a bigger place will. i know this because i could give you many first hand examples that happened to myself. where i live if its any more the a few stitches i will take the 2+ hour one way ride and that will save me days of jerking around locally.its happened to me more then i could count. just this week my mother had bad pains in her hip and leg real bad .she went to the doctor 3 times and got some scrips they didn't know what was wrong.well she kept hurting worse and worse, and was getting a bad rash, her next appoint was tues. today i took her into the city and in 2 hours they told her she had shingles, what the doctor here couldn't tell her in 3 visits! it sounds to me like you are going thru the same thing.
good luck and if your doctor can't give you answers go find someone who will.

thank you so much for trying to reassure me :) i need that!! these dr's 2 hours away i am seeing are Unviversity-teaching hospital-very well respected. they still are bouncing me around. it's frustrating.
i tell myself if i have something very bad (and believe me, physically, it feels that way) i can deal with it, if i just know what i am up against. it's this undecisiveness. why can't all dr's have the same thoughts (re: the doc telling me she firmly believes in her heart it can take years to show up). i am scared to death to go back to her-because that is all she is seeing. so- i am stuck -2 hrs away is rough on my financially, physically, and emotionally.
i really do appreciate the reassureance, i do need it. maybe onw day when i get a *TRUE* DX, i will stop bothering you all.
