Hey all,

Still here and still winning...Day 11 now. I have a question to those who are much further along than myself.

Lets say like after 30 days or so into this or when you start feeling much better are you more at risk to do the "I can have just one thing"...?

I know the "one is too many and a 1000 is not enough" thing, but I am wondering if the temptation will get harder.

Right now, I can tell I am far from be better yet. The brain is still not firing right yet and that keeps me on track. I know that using any or one will just take me steps backwards because I am no where near through the fixing this thing yet. But, if I feel well, maybe I won't think taking one will make me go backwards. Thats kind of my question...will my thinking change as I get better.

And maybe it will always just keep coming back to will power one day at a time, but still wondering if feeling better effects the will power. So, if anyone can offer how they reacted to what I am talking about it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Have a great weekend all.

Nick,

Congratulations on your sobriety. 11 days is a major accomplishment if you are anything like me (chances are good). After reading your post the first thing that strikes me is that you should try and stay in the moment and not worry about possible cravings 30 days from now. Each day that you put between yourself and the last drug will benefit you and help you to realize that you can do it. It helped me tremendously to attend NA or AA meetings and find someone to talk to. It helped me to realize that I was not alone and that if someone else could do it then so could i. Remember...STAY IN THE MOMENT!!!
In regards to 1 is too many and a 1000 never enough...so true! I had 10 years of sobriety and lost it all after 1 beer. I struggled for 2 years before I found my way back to sobriety. By the grace of GOD I will celebrate 7 years in September. Getting clean was the hardest thing I ever did, but well worth every moment. Get involved in your sobriety, take action, congratulate yourself for reaching out for help, but remember...ONE DAY AT A TIME!

Peace be with you my sober friend!
