I have read allot of the posts and what I have read so far answers most of my questions and fears, however, I have been having anxiety attacks for 3 months, it started when I went to the ER because I was having chest pains, come to find out it was acid reflux and now from what I am reading it was also anxiety, everything about the heart was normal from all the tests that were done, I have been taking xanax .5 mg, in the beginning it was working fine, now I think the dosage needs to be increased as the attacks are becoming a little frequent. This morning as I was waking up I was having an attack, that is 3 x's that has happened, after I got up out of bed I was fine. This is all too new to me and quite frankly I am also scared. Every little twitch or pain I am associating it with something dreadful happening or going to happen, it is taking over. So what I am having to endure is basicaly normal at this point? it is scaring the crap out of me. I also quit smoking over 2 months ago, wondering if that has anything to do with it. Thank you all for listening.

Sorry to hear about the acid reflux - I have it, too, and it's no fun. As far as the anxiety is concerned, might I make a helpful suggestion to you? I have been having what are called biofeedback treatments done by my therapist and they have helped SO much with my anxiety. They are an alternative treatment to medication or may be used in conjunction with medication. You basically play video games with your own brainwaves and eventually it allows your brain to produce more "normal" brainwaves/thinking patterns outside of the game. It is more of a long-term solution to helping brain disregulation. According to my therapist, it also helps to create more serotonin in your brain. You might want to do some research on your own about it. It's also sometimes referred to as neurofeedback. It's worth a shot - it has helped me out so very much. I'm blessed to have had it done. My thoughts and prayers are with you - you CAN get through this.
