hi guys, i always thought sweet potatoes and yams were the same thing...are they?
If not which is better for complex carbs?

Same thing. In the can (packed in syrup) they're usually called yams, though. Steamed fresh is much, much better. =]

Hello, Nope. They are different, but you can always substitue one for the other in recipes. Sweet potatoes accually have more vit. A and are more orange in color.

Yams and sweet potatoes are the EXACT same thing. Real "YAMS" are grown outside of North America and are much larger, thicker and darker skinned and more flavorful than the North American version.
