I have never used any message board before. Please help. Three weeks ago I started with strange feelings in hands and feet, moving up to knees. I was left feeling like my muscles were weak, but they weren't really. Some good days and bad days. I became more and more worried, thinking I had something really awful. I have seen doctor who says it might be viral or anxiety. Things are far worse at night. I wake up with strange sensations in legs, tingling and last night a sort of vibration type feeling in my back. I was so upset when I finally saw doctor again, I just came across like a wreck, I couldn't really get my point across. I have asked for some anti-depressants, (first time ever) He has asked me to think more about it. One of my legs feels a bit funny now and I still have tingling in my hands and feet (mild) most of the time. I am 47 (that funny age for women) and I have a stressful job. I feel very down, and a bit isolated and alone, although I have a loving family. I feel very strange and I am desperate for a good night's sleep. I would appreciate any help at all from anyone out there. Thank you.

Hi and welcome to the Board! My suggestion to you would be to ask your doctor for the name of a neurologist to help diagnose your problem. I, too, had feelings much the same as yours after I had injured my back while doing yard work. The leg pain went away, but I continued to have burning and tingling feelings in my legs and occasionally in one of my arms and sometimes it seemed to be everywhere. The neurologist did an EMG test on my legs to test for various diseases. My sciatic nerve was weak in both legs, but he felt that if I would exercise (walk) that it would help to strengthen the nerves. Seeing the neurologist helped me so much because he assured me that I did not have a terrible disease. And, if I had had some neurological problem, he would have been able to help cure it. I hope this post isn't too confusing and that you know what I am trying to say. There are many things, depression included, which can cause the symptoms you are having, but I believe that your nerves are somehow involved. Good luck! I'm sure others will respond to your post with good suggestions. :)

Thank you so much. I will talk to the doctor tomorrow and ask him to refer me.

I've had similar problems as you. I am also a 47 year old woman. I've had tingling in my legs and feet and even numbness in my limbs. Sometimes I wake up in the morning not being able to feel my hands or feet. There is nothing wrong with me physically, but I have a lot of anxiety and take valium when I feel very anxious. One thing that has helped me is going to a chiropractor. The chiropractor also suggested that I take vitamin B. He told me that tingling and numbness sometimes can be caused by vitamin B defficiency. I totally understand what you are going through. My feeling is that it is emotional and not physical.

I forgot to add that acupuncture helped me too. A few years ago I had pretty bad tingling in one side of my body and acupuncture made the tingling disappear.

Hi, The last few of my post today, I have been talking about magnesium defiency. Tingling is one of them. Look up magnesium defiency symptoms. See if you have them. I had to go to a special MD to find out I was defiencent. So I just began to take it. right now 800 mg's.

Thank you all. Your replies are so helpful to me. I went back to the doctors last night. He wants to see me again in two weeks. He is convinced that this thing is on its way out. I asked about some anti-depressants (I have needed them for a couple of years now but keep thinking I can manage) but he says no. He is not happy prescribing them. I think its because I never go to the docs. Anyway, just knowing that other people have similar symptoms has been a big help. I actually slept last night - well sort of. Thanks again
