I have been typically taking 0.5mg of Xanax one to two times a week for a couple of years. Some weeks I may take none other weeks I may take a little more depending on what kind of predictable anxiety I am anticipating. On rare occasions I have taken as much as 1 mg in a single day.

Can someone tell me if this kind of use is safe?

it should be okay. the signs of abuse are having to increase the dose to get the same effect and taking more often than prescribed. if you only take it once it awhile it shouldn't be a problem. i take .25 once in awhile to get to sleep. God bless:angel:

I have used Klonopin in the past, the doses you are explaining and I am fine. Eventually i was able to come off of it totally. I still have some in my purse. It is a security thing I guess.

hi there, i dont take it every day either only when i need it. Most of the time im fine with out it but then i have days that i can take 4 or 5 .25mg. My doc said thats fine. Like the previous post said when you dont get the effect needed with the dose and have to keep increasing it then you may have a problem.

I take .5 to 1.0 2-3 times a week and I have been for 4 years and it's been pretty safe.

I have been taking 0.5 mg of klonopin 2 to 3 times a week for 2 years now....I'm too concerned to get addicted but I've been told that as long as I don't increase the dosage I'll be fine.....
