Good afternoon from the rain Jersey Shore! I have had four rhinoplasties and I have very thick skin, hard to get the desired results because of this. I recently had a consultation with a doctor who stated that my last surgeries did not address my problem, which is my skin. He remarked that my past four doctors did text book surgeries, were competent, but my skin is the issue and he recommended that I have skin excision surgery, removing the skin from my bulbous nose and this would thin it out and help tremendously. There is a chance for scarring but I have the type of skin that would work in my favor and not leave a terrible scar and in time, probably not even noticeable. I think this doctor seems extremely smart, his work looked great and I truly believe he is addressing the problem and doesn't think another rhinoplasty is the answer for me. He could do the revision, but with minimal results. He's done one other skin excision but I would prefer to go to a doctor that has done many. I have an appointment with Dr. Jay Calvert in Beverly Hills and his nurse did say that he has done this before on patients like me. Has anyone had this procedure before and have they heard any feedback on Dr. Jay Calvert? Thanks for your help!

Hi,
I have a similar problem but I do not believe the other surgeons were competent to deal with a nose with "thick skin". A lot of doctors hae big egos and when they say that it's thick skin what they are really saying is thatb they are not artists in the true sense because they have not assessed the problem. Thick skin is not that common so you need an artist to do your nose. I went to 3 people who had no idea what they are doing. Now i am in the same predicament as you. I have browsed gallery after gallery and have not found anyone that great. I'm still looking. There is one surgeon who does work with thick skin he excised michael jackson's skin so I don't feel comfortable recommending him to you. He is too radical and is not ethical for what he did to that man. He is in L.A> if you ask around you can find him but i wouldn't go to someone unethical. Constantian seems to have all his photos of people with normal skin. I would like someone to address thick skin and the examples of before and afters. Let's keep each other posted. Have you already had yours done since your post in april? I am looking to have mine done in the summer of this coming :)year.
