Can the following symptoms be related to menopause?:

1. A need to drink much more water than usual (dehydration?).
2. Loss of appetite (for food and alcohol).

There is also a complete loss of libido which I have read is a symptom, this is after experiencing an increased libido for about 2 years.

My wife is 46 in July, and has been experiencing these symptoms for several weeks now. The lost libido is not an issue for me, I am just concerned about her. We have just returned from a short city break where we did a considerable amount of walking. Other than the symptoms described she seems to be fit and well.

I have asked her if she felt it could be the onset of menopause, but she insists that it is nothing to do with that. I am thinking that this may just be denial but I have left it at that. She insists there is nothing wrong and refuses to see a doctor about it.

Apart from the loss of appetite, she used to enjoy a few glasses of wine, but now struggles to drink one glass. Not a bad thing I guess, but a sudden change all the same.

I hope that someone can advise me on this, many thanks for reading.

My first thought upon reading this was about her blood sugar levels. Drinking a lot of water and lack of appetite are just two of the symptoms of a blood sugar imbalance.

Please, try to get her to the dr and get a blood test done.

Good luck and keep us posted! :)

I'll tell ya this much... If peri or meno ISstarting she wont be denying it for long! I agree with the blood sugar on this one though with the thirst. The libido could be anything. Mine has been crazy out of control for two years and I am full blown peri- every symptom and then some :dizzy: You might want to suggest she check with the doc, just get some bloodwork. Let us know how she is.

Many thanks for your responses, I will try again to get her to the doctor and will let you know the outcome.
