Are there any Utah members on this Board that have a good GP? I live in the Salt Lake area and thought I would ask before I start making calls to see if any are experienced. I am having a terrible time just finding another soul in Utah that has Addison's.
Thanks,
Susie

Hi CleoJack,
I am a neighbor in rural southwest Colorado. I question why you want to go to a GP. Granted, my experience with a specialist has been by far the worst medical consult ever (he seemed to prefer diabetes), but living in the Salt Lake area I would think that there would be really good endo group that would be more worthwhile. Chances are a GP would refer you to an endo anyway.
You can get online and pull up info on local doctors and their preferred speciality; some sites also offer rankings. I have considered going to the Mayo in Scottsdale; this is on the back burner for now. I have to travel a minimum of 450 miles to see any endocrine specialist. I have found a local chiropractor who really seems interested in my multiple endocrine failure issues and is willing to help me analyze the bloodwork. Of course my local GP who ordered the tests March 27 really expresses no interest to consult with me over the results. This has been typical from the GP community - they seem afraid of me.
So, best of luck, let me know if you find a good one - SLC is not out of the question for me to visit.

I need to pick a GP for my family and was hoping to find someone that already was familiar with Addison's. I have a great Endo - Dr Grua if you are interested. (I have only seen him once so I don't know have a history yet)Seeing him every six months may not cover my medical needs.
Good luck with the Chiropractor.
CleoJack
