View Full Version : Sinus/Ear infection...is this normal?

My goodness. I am experiencing some ridiculous symptoms. What's funny is that I don't have mono. I was actually tested for it a few days ago, supposedly I just have a sinus infection. But I'm dizzy all the time and I really don't feel like myself at all. I don't feel dizzy to the point where I am going to fall down, but just dizzy where I feel disoriented. I also hear cracking when I yawn in both of my ears and my right ear feels like it is clogged. I am also feeling pressure on my face, like something is pushing down on my cheeks, if I press on my cheeks and under my eyes I feel like I have bruises underneath my skin. Every once in a while I also hear a very high pitch noise in my right ear, but it won't stay for long and barely happens. My nose is also dry I'm going to an ENT specialist on monday, I will keep you updated on my situation. My questions is, does this sound like a normal sinus/ear infection? I have had ear problems ever since I was a little kid, but never this bad. Finals are coming up for college and I have been unable to concentrate at all. I'm on Guaifenex 600-60 tablets. Has anyone here had any similar experiences to this and what helped you during this time? I also noticed the dizziness happening after I cleaned my ear with a Q tip. I went to the doctor to get my ears drained and the doctor only drained my left ear, she said it was unsafe to drain the right because there was liquid behind the ear drum, now after the drainage I feel pressure on my right ear.

Oh, I also suffer from severe hypochondria, so I am just seriously scared.

Thanks in advance to anyone that decides to contribute to this thread.

Sounds like a standard impacted sinus infection to me. You may not have an actual ear infection just retained ear fluid.

Thank you so much for the reply. It gives me a little bit of relief. I'm still going to try to make an appointment with an ENT tommorow. I can't let my 3.5 gpa go to waste with these finals coming up. Thanks again.

Could a sinus infection be causing the cracking in my ears when I yawn though? It's not painful, just very strange and weird.

Trapped ear fluid when under pressure can cause your effects. TMJ is a slightly different beast. Since you have been diagnosised with the sinus/ear funk I would worry more about drying the up and getting the infection treated correctly the first time. The ENT consul is the right thing to do. They can also test for TMJ.

Sincerely,
MG
