I just wanted to say what a great site this is, i sit here reading all the threads and its like my life story, I didnt realise there were other people like me, always just thought i was a total misfit !! Now i have a title for it, I suppose thats a good thing ?? Ive spent years pulling my socks up and getting on with it, or just hiding from society...putting up with driving phobias social anxiety, general fear, depression. I recently had a biggie in life that put me under a lot of stress and gave me physcosis for 2 months.
Anyway i just wanted to thank everyone here for their honesty !! I feel human again:) :) :)

Glad to hear that you are doing better and getting so much from this board. I share your feelings as far as all I have gained here in terms of support and wisdom from some pretty terrific people.;)

I hope that you continue to do well and know that it is great to see that you see the value that this board offers.

Hi logical! Welcome to the board! You will get lots out of your experience here as most of us have. I even consider some of these people my virtual friends! :D I have no doubt that eventually, you will as well. It's a great site!

Hi Logical and welcome to the board. It is easy to find support, guidance, and things that others have learned through their own vast experiences. I think it is easier to make friends among those who understand or have been where you are versus those that don't sometimes have a clue at all. It doesn't make them bad people but in some ways perhaps a bit luckier not to deal with it in their lives.

You know you hit the nail on the head with that explanation, You really have to have been in the position to understand it. I never told one of my best friends about my physcosis, and because my family live in the uk and i live in Australia i never told them either, just cant see them understanding, they always said i was a bit mad and that was a joke back then, can you imagine there faces if i told them the story had come true !!
I think you loose credability once people know, its like even if something was real they wouldnt believe you anymore, to be honest im not sure i even trust myself anymore. How do you deal with that ??

Hello!

I think it is important for your close friend - I'm sure you have one at least! And your family to know; just so you have a support network. You'll probably be surprised by their reaction - like you said they always thought you were a bit nuts! Your Mum would love to be there for you - just like us!

Jgr,.. i still think it ruins your credability,...im ashamed to say i would have felt the same way before it happened to me myself,...So called mad people used to scare me,...now they comfort me, ...thats meant as a compliment by the way, even if it didnt sound like it !! I dont want to loose that credability with my family or friends even if they would be able to understand, which i dont think my mum would even though she might try. I d rather stay her intelligent problem solving daughter than her mad black sheep ! I think people are afraid of what they dont understand. Its just human nature.
Thanks for your support though.
