I don't know what im going to do sometimes.. my anxiety has been pretty dormant for the past 2 to 3 years, at one point I even had horrible panic attacks but most of them are gone now.
--
The thoughts are irrational and include, but of course not limited to,
Worrying about trying to squeeze my head hard enough to cause trauma or worse
Worrying about trying to use chef's knifes to hurt self (not kill self mind you)
Worrying about swallowing tiny objects to bring on choking
Worrying about jumping off of balcony of house
--
Usually when I can disprove worries, I feel better about the situation. Out of them all im worried mostly becuase unlike the other worries I can't cut off my hands to prevent myself from trying to crush my head. Im guessing that it's not possible but im just worried. I know im stupid but it hurts sometimes..

sorry to hear you aren't doing well. those intrusive thoughts are the pits. i went 2 years on buspar and did well and then the anxiety came back. upped the buspar. had some breakthrough in dec and tried celexa. too sedating. try to find a med that works. the buspar started to work for me in 4 days and little side effects. please get help. those thoughts will make you crazy. also some therapy. write down your anxiety worries and try to put a positive spin on them. hope you get better. God bless:angel:

My anxiety returned after a TWENTY-FIVE year absence! Turning 45 an a diagnosis of high blood pressure brought it on (I suffer from horrendous health anxiety).

However CBT is working very well for me now. Don't despair. Anxiety is very treatable over the long haul.

hmmm..
are these anxiety thoughts or OCD thoughts-
I have OCD, and it was my understanding that irrational, intrusive anxious thoughts were OCD symptoms, but does anxiety cause this as well?
Sorry if this is a dumb question!
Also,
I hear you!
I went the last year sleeping great, anxious, but panic and depression free nearly entirely!
But as of my breakup, I've had countless panic attacks, and intense insomnia!
It's driving me nuts!
It is so frustrating when you think you;re cured, and BOOM-it's back and you forgot how it went away in the first place.
My suggestion is to try to understand why your anxiety came back- what new stressful things have occured?
And then talk to yuor doc and try to make changes accordingly.
Best of luck!

yes anxiety can cause these thoughts but imo the person usually has some ocd traits also. i can be a little obsessive but not that bad. i believe this bout of anxiety is more hormonal in nature since i am almost at the end of perimenopause. i don't get theses thoughts unless i have severe anxiety. This sounds like OCD, man. I have a minor case of it, coupled with a few years behind me (and still with me to some degree) of some depression and severe anxiety attacks that are provoked from awful, automatic thoughts.
Marian - you said below "those thoughts will make you crazy." They won't at all. They will bother you endlessly if you don;t seek help but in NO WAY will they make you actually lose your mind and act on them. That is the catch about OCD; a thought has a lot of negative power and therefore the person homes in on that thought and obsesses about it. The fact that youre resisting the thought is good, but it's usually better to just let the thoughts roll off ur mind, as awful as they may be. Take care
