I just got off BCPs last month. My last AF was March 19th. So, I am assuming that I am supposed to see AF today, which I have not. We really did not want to get prego this month (but we won't be upset!!), as we heard it's best to have one natural period after the pill. But then again, we definitely BDd this month. Is it too early for me to test? Should I wait a few days? Sorry, I'm new to this stuff. Thanks!

Well I didn't get any replies. That's okay though. I'm going to test tonight after work. So my next question is, which test is the best/cheapest to buy? I plan to pick up a few of them. Thanks.

hi, good morning! when your just off bcp it takes a while for some women to get back to "normal" af to return, i think its up to a year with some people!
anyways, hope you get your bfp when you test, and as for which to use, i use the cheapest ones personally, as they all do pretty much the same job, and im an obsessive tester lol. whichever you choose, buy 2 just to make sure!

Hi Accutane!

Welcome to the wonderful world of TCC.

Allow me to quickly share with you. I got off of Seasonal bcp around Juneish 2006. I have since then had 3 periods total. Yeah...3. My last AF visit lasted 5 weeks...actually I'm still visiting AF right now. Yup, still with AF after 5 weeks. (And yes, I have an apt. for the dr.)

Case in point...I am still not back to a normal cycle. So we have to wait until at least a year before we can expect to be able to start seeing a regular cycle.

It's only your first cycle, I would doubt you are really pregnant. It's not impossible by any means. But it's unlikely. Your body is used to being cued from outside sources to start AF.

To sum up this post: I would wait to test. You can buy some tonight if you want, but I wouldn't waste one just yet. Any of them are fine...the cheapest ones are the ones that have the lines. In fact, you can buy pg tests at the dollar store! And they work just fine. Most generic brand tests give you the option to buy a single test or buy two tests in one pack. I suggest buying the two test pack.

The BEST ones (and the most fun, according to my DH) are the ones that are digital and say Pregnant or Not Pregnant. Example: Clear Blue Easy. But these are obviously more expensive.

Hope this helps! Ask any more questions...we're here to help! I'm with you on the TTC train!

Let us know how things go!

Thanks for the info. Still haven't seen AF but I haven't tested either. I bought 3 tests last night to have on hand, but I'm going to hold off on testing yet. Hoping to see AF soon........I was very regular before the Pill and hope that my body can get back into the swing of things quickly. Thanks again. I'll keep you posted.

If AF doesn't show up by Friday the 20th, I'll test then. I have no signs of a BFP or AF. So I'm just going to wait it out. I'll post on Friday after I test or before if I see AF. Thanks for the concern and info.

Hi Accutane,

It may be better to wait but I am living proof, or at least my son is, that you can indeed get pregnant 2 weeks after going off BCP's.

I am trying again now and it is taking longer but it can happen.

Good Morning,
Well AF is visiting now. Thanks for the support. I'm looking forward to sharing this journey (hopefully short for all of us) with you guys. Thanks again.

Accutane,

I'm sorry af came for you again. Dissapointing isn't it?? I'm down today too. Af came yesterday, but last night after supper I got incredibly nauseous and lost my dinner then immediately felt better. I got nauseous Monday night after supper as well. Don't know what that was all about but I tested this morning and bpf. I had the fleeting hope it was implantation bleeding, not true af. It's like I knew I wasn't, but why did I get sick? It's just dissapointing. i was ok until a little while ago then it hit my how much I really want a baby. My Dh was excited last night I could tell and said this morning that he was really hoping it was a bfp. It;s just so hard keeping the faith sometimes. I know you know what I mean. Well, I need to get to work so thanks for "listening" . Hope you have a great day!
