View Full Version : Superslow and Creatine

Does anyone have any experience with Superslow exercises? You do 10 secs up and 10secs down on reps until exhaustion- and do about 5-10 reps on each exercise. You are only supposed to workout every 4-7 days to give yourself enough time to recover from workouts. I have been doing the workouts for several weeks and have noticed good strength gains.

My question is if I take creatine w/ Superslow- should I workout more often the every 4-7 days because recovery would be faster?

Any additional insights to Superslow workouts would be appreciated also.

Creatine does not IN ITSELF speed recovery. It will increase the potential for your muscles to recover assuming you are getting the nutrients in your diet to repair your muscle tissue along with the proper sleep and aren't highly stressed and all that other stuff. So assuming you are doing everything else right then I'd say you could decrease your rest period between workouts.

What I don't understand is how any weight lifting session would require a 4 to 7 day rest period. I just can't imagine any routine causing so much tissue damage that you'd require that kind of recovery period.

If this superslow routine works for you then great. I wouldn't use it for me though. Going slow is a good idea but 10 seconds up and 10 seconds down sounds too slow to me. I would think that would build more muscle endurance than powerful bursts of strength which is the norm for most weight lifters in the gym. Consider pro athletes weight training routines. A lot of them train for quickness and powerful movements like a football O-lineman getting out of his stance quickly and explosively, a D-Lineman having that quick first step, a linebacker exploding into the ball carrier, a baseball player having that sweet quick powerful bat movement, etc.

Really any type of routine is going to get a person some gains initially when they are just starting out lifting but what really seperates the fad workouts from the tried and true stuff is after you've been working out for over 3 months and those initial gains are acheived and you really have to work hard to continue gaining.
