esmith6255 04-16-2007, 11:25 AM I', 25 and super scared about getting my tonsils out in 2 days.....anyone wanna offer advice? Thank you so much!! Sponsor Deadhead905 04-16-2007, 11:28 AM I had my tonsils taken out when I was a little kid, I was super scared. I'm 19 now, but had them taken out when I was about 7 years old, I still remember. I could not sleep that night at all. I played video games to relax, just try to do something that relaxes you to get your mind off of it. In the end, your tonsils are being taken out to help you, so think about the positives. Hope this helps. esmith6255 04-16-2007, 11:48 AM Thank you! I appreciate all of the comfort and advice I can get. At this point anything will help! I had my wisdom teeth pulled when I was in highschool, but that was a long time ago. I am a weenie when it comes to pain too which doesn't help! Kar2899 04-16-2007, 11:52 AM I am getting mine out on the 18th too. We can do it!!!!! =) esmith6255 04-16-2007, 11:57 AM do you mind me asking....how old are you?? They say it's worse in adults...I'm 25 Deadhead905 04-16-2007, 12:54 PM Usually adults have a high pain threshold, but I seriously remember being in the hospital when i was 7 years old the day after my surgery, my parents were at home and my throat hurt so bad that I was on the phone crying to my parents. I remember waking up from the surgery in a bed with 2 kids each in their own beds one on each side of me. I was crying because of the pain, and the nurse yelled at me and told me to buck up because the other two kids weren't crying. I had the surgery in France where I used to live. That's pretty much all I remember of after the surgery pain wise. Bring something with you to the hospital that reminds you of something that makes you happy. I brought a picture of my family w/ me. Kar2899 04-16-2007, 01:47 PM I am 27, so close to your age! Daisysmom 04-16-2007, 04:24 PM Don't be scared. The meds they give you to put you to sleep actually feel good and they usually numb your throat during surgery so you don't feel much for a few hours anyway. If you have a fear of being nauseous after surgery, ask the doc if they can give you a motion sickness patch. Worked wonders for me and I am O-L-D!!! I'm in Indiana too!! |
