View Full Version : Iron Deficient Anemia

I have been diagnosed with IDA due to low hemoglobin, hemotocrit, RBC's and Ferritin. I had a bone marrow biopsy which showed no iron stores whatsoever in my bone marrow. However, I do not have a low MCV or low saturation - both are in normal ranges. Any ideas on why this is? I wonder if the MCV could be in range because of a combo of B12 deficiency and Iron deficiency. Is saturation always low with IDA?

Thanks for any feedback!

I don't know about most people, but my mcv was within normal limits when I was anemic, hgb of 8 with ferritin 2. But now that I am not anemic but just ID, my mcv level continues to rise. I will have to check into my b-12 levels the next time I get blood work. But if you have no iron store with anemia your satuation would be low, with high TIBC. Whenever my ferritin drops, my platelets rise, mcv, tibc rise and decrease satuation.
