View Full Version : Pain and pressure in the ear.

Hello,

A few weeks back I had a cold and an ear infection. I was given amoxicillin and the ear infection went away, but then it was following about 9 or 10 days later by horrible rashes all over my body. The rashes were probably caused by a reaction to the amoxicillin. I started feeling new pain in my other ear. It hurts tremendously when I chew on that side of my mouth and when I bite down. It feels like there is tons of pressure in my ear canal. Last night it hurt a tad but then went away. This morning the ear felt fine and got progressively worse all day. My doctor looked in my ear canal and said there is fluid built up in there and she gave me a different type of antibiotic. She also said my glands were a little swollen

My question is: What are the odds this is not an ear infection but TMJ? If it's TMJ, what should I do to treat it?

Thank You.

UPDATE: I took Mucinex D a little while ago and the pressure in my has gone down considerably, and it doesn't hurt as much to bite down.

Any ideas? I hope it's not TMJ.
