Hi,

I had my CTS on Feb 14, the stiches came out March 1. I have not had any tingling or numbness since, but the area around the scar still gets inflamed everyday in the morning. I've also found that my fingers and hand feel week. Is this normal? If it is how long does it take for the hand to go back to normal strength?
Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks
G

Hi, I had the surgery on my left hand on March 1, so I'm a bit behind you in recovery. My scar was doing well, until the other night when I lost my balance and in trying to catch myself, landed on the edge of a kitchen chair back with my full weight on my scar. OUCH!!!

Anyway, I do still get some inflammation, tenderness, and swelling, but my doctor said that is to be expected for a few months. At least the numbness and the awful pain I was having is gone. It's such an amazing difference! (I'm also planning on having my right hand done this summer.)

My surgeries were in 2005, so I can tell you. It depends on each person's healing abilities, but by a month or 2 you should be getting back to some normal activities. However, and I can't stress this enough, it could take up to a year to really heal completely. Don't be picking up heavy objects or anything too strenuous during that time. I did and now I have tendonitis.
