Hey,
Im new here.
Ill start off by saying I absolutely LOVE music. I love to blast it and I love o fell it. I got 2 new JL audio sub wooofers for my truck and I love to blast them.
My radio tops out at 117.2 decibels at half volume(15/30) (I listen to it at about 13/30 volume)
how do I keep listening and save my ears?
do sub woofers vibrations affect my ears more? like my ear drums?

Hello
I love music too, and used to go to loads of bands and clubs (when I was younger). I have always tried to look after my ears though (there is deafness in my family) and rarely used my ipod and if I did it was on a really low volume.
About a year ago we had a fire drill at work and I ended up standing next to the alarm, a week later I had constant ringing in my ears and a blocked up feeling. The blocked up feeling (like water in my ear 24/7) drives me mad and the ringing is still there, although intermittent now thank goodness.
My advice to you is look after your ears. Although we have no proof that the fire alarm caused my case (could be TMJ?) it is not worth taking the risks with really loud music. I sometimes had ringing after concerts and that is a sign that you are pre-disposed to tinnitus.
Turn the music down, get some ear plugs and read a tinnitus forum, there are people on there who are suicidal as all they hear is ringing, even louder than their tv, they cannot sleep and they cannot concentrate at work. I even wear ear plugs to the cinema now and haven't been to a gig in a year.
Please take care, it is not worth it, enjoy your music just at a lower level.
