Hello Everyone!
I stopped smoking 3/28 after 11 days on Chantix, and have remained smokefree, fairly easily. But my husband, who is a truck driver and 2 pack a day habit for most of his 37 years (started when he was 14), HAS QUIT!! This is a major accomplishment for him and I'm so proud. We even had company over the weekend that went out on the deck to smoke and he went with them and never touched one. He is on day 4 quit. YEAH!!!
For those of you lurking, wondering about Chantix, IT REALLY WORKS!!! Our side effects were fairly in line with other peoples: 1st week was tired and kind of blah feeling, some nausea but not bad if you take the pill with food and plenty of water, one or two headaches, and not much appetite. 2nd week, insomnia and just a restless feeling, for him he got BAD gas and constipation (I didn't have that, thank you very much!!) But it's gone away now. For me, I will be 3 weeks quit tomorrow and have just noticed in the last week that I'm bloating! I've gained about 10 lbs of water!!! It came on suddenly and I'm hoping it leaves the same way! Really, that's pretty much it for us. But I'm so glad we tried this medicine. It was literally painless to put the smokes down, although hubby fought it for 3 weeks! Lets hope we can all beat this stupid nicotine and send the tobacco companies down the drain!!! (Sorry to all you tobacco company employees, we know you have families to support the same as us,) but being a NON-SMOKER feels AWESOME!!:blob_fire
