View Full Version : Co-infected?

Hi everyone. So I tested positive for Hep C like 2 months ago, then I went to a place that was part of the red cross and got an HIV test and I just received my results..positive. I was in denile the whole time. I never believed I'd be co-infected (is that what its called?). Its purely my fault for being an intravenous drug user, but Im only 19 and I never thought this would happen.

Anyway. I won't have medical insurance for another month to get treatment. But in the mean time I want to learn more about having both. What types of symptoms will I have, what types of meds will I be on, are there medications specifically meant to treat these symptoms (generic example- if your tired take caffiene), and how long could I expect to live? I'm searching online and keep getting the same basic info and these are some questions I have. Thanks everyone!

I am sorry honey. I too was a iv drug user. Luckily I was not co infected and wound up with just hep c. You should try the hiv boards too. I think a lot of people on there are co infected and I am sure on here too. I think that a lot of the meds for both are very similiar. Good luck honey. They have made amazing break throughs with hiv. Just amazing. They know way more about hiv then they do hep c. There are a lot of programs out there that help people get treated for both.
