Hi everyone, I have a male friend who is living with his ex girlfriend and their 18 month old son. Their Relationship has ended due to her Bipolar. She was only recently diagnosed with the problem. I'm extremely worried for all of them as she has started to become increasingly frightening. She has threatened suicide several times. Once saying she'd kill herself and her son. And now she has started to threaten him saying she'll stab him through the heart while he's asleep. He woke the other day to her standing over him with a carving knife and when he scrambled across the room the get as far away from her as possible she said don't worry the knife is for me not you. He says he can't leave for fear of what she might do. I'm so worried for all of them.

Do you think that there is a possibility that she might carry through on any of the threats she has made? Or do you think that threats are all they are?

Please, if anyone has any advice for me I'd really appreciate it.

Sam:confused:

Dear Sam ~ Your friend needs to bring his girlfriend to the hospital for an immediate evaluation. He needs to take her threats VERY seriously. She is not stable and until she is on the proper meds and is acting this way she is a threat to herself and others. If she will not willingly go he MUST call the authorities and tell them of what happened and insist they take her to be evaluated since he is afraid of her harming herself, him and/or their son.

I don't know how it is in England but here in the states anybody who threatens to hurt themselves or others will be admitted for psychiatirc evaluation and treatment.

PLEASE talk your friend into getting her help. If she refuses he must call the authorities. She needs help ASAP to prevent her from harming herself or others.

Please keep us posted as to what happens. You are a great friend to seek advice for you friend ~ Goody:angel:
