View Full Version : I'm about to kill myself, PLS HELP!

I've been reading around this site for about a month but I need some feedback please.

Here's the story. Dec. 18 I had unprotected sex with a chick I worked with. She gave me oral sex for about 1 minute then she got on top...I stopped it after about 1-2 minutes. That was the only time I had sex with her. I then quit my job and lost contact with the woman.

I'm scared as hell, because she has probably been around the block. I got check out the next day for HIV, AIDS, gonnarea, spyhills, and clymadiea. That made no use, so I got tested again, this time also for herpes at the 3 month mark(around March 15) once again everything was Negative. I'm still neverous...So I got checked out about a week ago(close to the 4 month mark) for HIV with a rapidHIV test and it was negative. I'm still freaking out. I've gotten back with my girl and we've started having sex and a couple of times we didn't use a condom. She says I'm just losing my mind and I'm safe...I need some insight from people here. Please let me know what my chances are. I read everywhere on the net and different sites say different things about the window period. Please help me.

I'm scared because I keep thinking I have all these symtoms like: sore throat(doctor said I had slight Strep Throat), small little pimples about 5 so far have popped up on my arm, and my skin on my finger tips has started peeling this past week.

What are the chances of me having HIV, Herpes or anything else at the 4 month mark????

Thank you,
~Crazy~

calm down, you are negative, believe in your tests!
they are the most accurate and best way to know your status
and if they say no,you are safe. your symptoms mean nothing towards your hiv status so they are from your anxeity or from something else
not hiv. your chances are 0,nada,zilch and even more so because you don't even know if your partner is positive to begin with.
relax and enjoy your self and put your fears to rest
good luck

Thanks, it's just I'm scared as hell because so many sites say different things.

Is 3 months a definite timeline for all other STDS?

other stds i believe are conclusive alot sooner then 3 months.
hiv is the longest.
don't believe alot that you read, there is alot of misinformation out there
alot of it is from being uninformed and out of fear.
imo they shouldn't even list symptoms because all they do is raise people's fears and once they do that then everything they think of or see is magnified
and they think they are infected no matter what you tell them.
the tests are very accurate and they work well, a couple of zits and a sore throat isn't gonna change the results. you should be fine!
good luck again

Listen to smiteler, he knows what he's talking about. And also from personal experience, when we get scared that we might be sick with something that isn't completely curable or doesn't have good outcomes all the time (like even when someone convinces themselves they must have cancer before they've even seen a doctor, or hiv or what have you), we start micro-examining every single thing our body does. I started to do this when the thought crossed my mind that I could have hiv, but I finally made myself sit down one night and truly think it over and all my supposed symptoms are things I have had since a child or things that also happen when I'm under a lot of stress, and obviously worrying myself sick about hiv is stressful to my body. If you can't get your mind off it, why not try picking up a new hobby or learning to meditate so when you get into a bad cycle of thinking about it you can learn to stop that? That's what I've done, I've began meditating and it's helping me a lot.

And if you still can't put your mind at ease with all these negative tests, do what a friend of mine has done (she had a late stage aids patient bleed a lot onto to her, and then a couple of years later went on a self destructive streak for several years, so she was pretty high risk), she just asks her doctor to give her an hiv test every year. She knows by now it would have shown up, but it helps her to keep a peace of mind about it anyway.

Thank you so much, honest to God...I haven't felt good for a couple of months. I'm driving myself crazy. Your words just made me feel so warm...thank you. It's true, I do micro-examine everything my body does...if I have gas I say I must have hiv...it's sicking. My fingers have just started peeling alittle at the tips of both my thumbs and index fingers. So that right there has me on edge.

Have you heard of such a thing to be related to any STD after testing - for 4 months?

As they say...the mind of a powerful thing!

Any idea what the peeling of my hands can be related too if not HIV?

Also, how accurate is a hiv test at 3 months and also at 4 month? I mean...what are the percentages of detecting an hiv antibody? I read most people have detectable antibody's at 22 days...I'm guessing that kinda far fetched.

at 3 months is considerd conclusive, the peeling skin i don't know, but i can say it doesn't happen to me and it never happened to my ex in the 7 years we were together and i've had about every symptom out there, i would say that is from somthing else.

Anxiety can do a lot to our bodies. this sort of and sort of unrelated, but i found out i have high risk hpv (means its one the 4 strains most likely to cause cervical cancer) a few months ago and my doctor made things sound pretty bad, I don't think he meant to but thats how it came across. I got so stressed and anxious waiting for some biopsy results that not only was I having my original symptoms but I started having a whole slew of other symptoms that could be related to cervical cancer, ovarian cancer and some other reproductive issues. I was miserable. My biopsies came back completely negative and the hpv had gone dormant. almost overnight every "symptom" besides my original problems (that had nothing to do with hpv actually) was gone. So when we're "convinced" we could have something, we can stress ourselves to the point that we start exhibiting those symptoms also.

As for the peeling fingers, I get that a lot but I have dry skin. Usually its when I handle something rough that just slightly abrades the skin on my fingertips (i don't feel it though) and then later my fingertips will be all dried looking and flaky/peeling looking too. I'm still waiting on my test results, but I've had the peeling fingertips ever since I was a kid. It doesn't happen very often, maybe 2 or 3 times a year. Could it be something you just never noticed before?

It could...I think it might be. I tried keeping my mind off the topic for atleast 2-3 hours and it was great. I was having such a good time; then all of a sudden I just remember and my mood god so damn dark. I just didn't wanna have any fun anymore and I just sat there thinking about it again. I think it's my guilt and mind playing with me. I don't have any rashes, fevers, thrust, night sweats. I had a sore throat about 2 times in the past and every now and then I get a small pimple looking bump on one of my arms. Now have skin peeling off my fingers and it's freaking me out. I thank you for all your kind words...you are really keeping me sane!!!

Thanks,

So I'm starting to tell myself 3 months is enough!!! However, why is it that they state 6 months?

P.S. I don't really understand any of the different test they offer. I'm reading and everyone says Elisa, PCR, etc...

I took the standard blood test at 1 week and again at 3 months.
I took the RapidHIV test at 3 months and again at 4 months.

Are any of those test the ones everyone talks about or are they different.

Could it be something you just never noticed before?

any idea about the tests?

smiteler

you took 4 tests and they all came back negative?
if that is the case you are negative!
believe in your tests!!
they are alot more accurate then any symptom.
3 months is considered conclusive, alot of false info is on the web.
as i have said a few times before
you are fine!!
