Hi,
This is my first time here on this board. I have been taking Paxil 20 mg. for the last 6 years for GAD. It worked wonderful for me and I never had a single side effect. I have tried to get off it a few times, but the anxiety always comes back. In the last month I started having anxiety again, while on the Paxil. I have heard that if you take an SSRI for a long time it can stop working. I have an appointment to see my doc on Friday, and I think she will want to change my meds. I tried Zoloft once a year ago and it didnt' work for me. Any suggestions? There seems to be so many to choose from. Do you know how I will change from Paxil to the new one? Like, all at once?
I did try upping my Paxil to 30 mg. 5 days ago, but I don't see any improvement.

i take buspar for anxiety and last dec i added 20mgs of celexa because i had some breakthrough. i found it too sedating but maybe it would have been ok without the buspar. it is something to consider. God bless:angel:

i took paxil for 6 yrs also and it did the same i have been on Celxa and love it i take 40 mg before bed i think you might like it....

How did you do the weaning from the Paxil to the Celexa? Like did you just one day stop the Paxil and start the Celexa?
I have a freind who takes Celexa and likes it too.

I just upped my does to 30 2 days ago and I seem to be in a pretty good mood!!! Maybe it's the great weather we are having here in the northeast. Anyway my doc said if the 30 did'nt work she'd up it to 40. I just going to wait and see.

I took 20 mg. Paxil for 6.5 yr and it worked great. I loved it. When I stopped working I was more than bummed. I upped it to 30 for a week, and it made no improvement at all. I'm having a hard time. I'm now taking Cymbalta, for a weeks. Started at 30 mg. and I got very nervous, so went down to 15. Still nervous, and now 2 docs think the nervousness is not from the Cymbalta but from abruptely stopping the Paxil. I just put it to the test and took 5 mg. of Paxil an hour ago to see it anything would get better. So far, nothing.
