I had my first outbreak on my Penis in October of 06.. I was on medication (Valtrex), but stopped. I wanted my immune system to work this out on it's own. Since then, I have had no outbreaks. Thanks for the recommendations. I did test positive for HSV 1. OK fine.
To the point:
I had a bump on my penis again 2 days ago, but it became sort of a scab inside and is gone already. No outbreak and it just went away. It was the first site of something since January.
Is it safe to say that my immune system is fighting this? Let me tell you, it's nothing like the first outbreak.

yes more than likely. my first was the worst. ive never had one that bad again. and i have gotten fewer and fewer as the years have passed. also, over time you'll realize what triggers your OBs. for example, with me it tends to be stress. the worse the stress. the worse the OB. minimal stress, minimal OB. etc. there's other triggers for me but i think you understand what i mean. any way, good luck.

I've had HSV 2 for 5 and 1/2 years...I was on Valtrex for a few years (on and off). No side effects except I noticed a few months ago, my hair was looking thinner. I got off of them, and have been under major stress...looking for work etc....I got an OB on sunday and it's pretty much gone now, but my Doc said that STRESS is such a major factor. Basically if you take care of yourself and try to remain stress free, I think this virus will remain domant from my experience. I just hope that is was stress and not me stopping the meds that brought on this small OB.

Lotus, I can tell you based on my experience and I posted the whole story, meds made the 1st and second OB stick around longer. Lingering pain, sores took forever to heel. It was not until I stopped the meds, it went away. I think like anything else, my body must not have generated it's own antibodies. It's true. Example.... If men take testosterone or steroids for too long, your bodies natural production shuts down. I know people at the gym that must receive testosterone injections because their body stopped producing it.. Sad but true.
