After years of anemia, fatigue, rapid heart rate, chest pain...a wonderful doctor finally recommended iron infusions for me. I had my follow up appointment today and my anemia is gone and my ferritin is up from 2 to above normal. I feel wonderful!! My suggestion to others is - don't be afraid of the iron infusions, they are really wonderful!! Best of luck to you all!:blob_fire

That is great news.
Can you tell me if you were using oral iron before this? If so, was it not working?
I'm kind of in this situation. I am using oral iron (Spatone) which is a low dose. It has corrected my anemia, but my ferritin is not coming up. My next step is "more" oral iron, which I'm dreading.
Will you have to keep up with the iron infusions? Did you ever figure out why you became so iron deficient?
Sorry for all the questions.

I did oral iron for almost a year without any results to note. I think the anemia was the result of years of heavy cycles and malabsorption/low stomach acid. I will return to the doctor in three months for a follow up to see if the iron levels are maintaining. I do not need any iron now. In fact, my ferritin levels are actually too high!
