Hey there,

I had protected sex about two and a half weeks ago, with a new girl and my testicals feel a bit iritated and red now. I had talked to a friend of mine who is a RN and actually has herpes. I'm quite confused because he checked me out and said not to worry I have no sores on my penis. I do have some bumps on my shaft, but they may have been there for years - I'm not quite sure.. they do not hurt at all and are not getting any worse. He had also checked my glands (they felt a little sore) and he did not notice any swelling.. Yet I have felt a little sick with diarrea. Am I freaking out over a yeast infection? It seems as though there is a lot of confusing information out there. How can you get tested if you have no open sores?

I am in the medical field as well as positive for Herpes. You can get your doctor to do a blood test to figure out if you have it. Alot of people have all the symptoms of flu, etc but no sores and it is the outcome of Herpes. That happened to me too. That is how I figured it out. You might never have sores, you might be one of the lucky ones but that still doesn't mean you don't have it. Get a blood test.

Scared - there are some reliable blood tests out there though not all the different tests out there for herpes are. The "Herpes Select" blood test
is considered the most accurate one and it has a >90 % reliability. u can ask ur doc to prescribe u this test specifically. This test will also let you know whether you have type 1 or type 2 of the virus. However, u will have to wait atleast 3-4 months before u can get this test because ur body needs that much time to register enuf antibodies to the virus to be able to be detected by the blood test.
