Can anyone tell me the best time to take your calcium and Vit D?? I thought
I read to take it w/ your meals, then I read an article that it is better taken
at night so that it is absorbed during the night??
Anyone been told by a doc or have knowledge of the best time?

Hi Jodiane: I was told, by several Drs, to take it with meals in divided doses, totalling 1200-1500 mg a day. Your body can't absorb more than 500 mgs at one time, so that's why they tell you divided doses. I was then told that 1500 mg was too much, by another Dr, so it depends on how much you are getting through your diet. I always took the D at the same time. If you're taking any bisphosphonates (actonel etc) then you have to wait to take calcium.
Good Luck...

I was told to divide the doses of Calcium supplements throughout the day, and that Calcium Citrate can be taken with or without food and Calcium carbonate should be taken with food.
