I've only been taking Seroquel for about a week now, but it seems to make me sleep for LONG periods of time (ie 12-14 hours). If I wake up anytime before this, I feel dizzy for a period of time. Has anyone else who is presently taking this drug, or has in the past, experienced these same symptoms? Did they seem to pass after a period of adjustment? I understand everyone's reactions to certain medications are different, I would just like to know everyone's experience with the med. I'm wondering if this is how it will be going forward, or if perhaps my body is just adjusting for right now. I guess I just feel I don't have that kind of time to spend sleeping right now (who does, right?! ;) ) Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences!

Hi, Cassie:wave: Welcome to the boards.
My daughter is on Seroquel and we were told by the pdoc that we would see her knocked out at first but when increasing the dose it would improve. How much are you on right now??? We started at 25mgs the first day and then were told to go up to 50mgs the next day whether we were sleepy or not. My daughter did fairly well doing it that way. She stayed at 50mgs for about 4 days and then doubled it to 100mgs for another 4 days and then a week later was increased to 200mgs. All this time she took it at bectime. After that week we went to 100mgs in the morning and 200mgs at night. The first few days of the 100mgs in the morning he was very dizzy at school and actually blacked out. The pdoc called the school and instructed them to give her water and something salty like pretzels or a pickle and assurred us that it would subside. And it did.
So I would give it a chance...I read that it is best to increase it to higher doses and the quicker you do the faster the sleepiness and dizziness will go away. Another poster here felt the same way and couldn't even go to work and then within a week he posted that it was the best med that he had ever been on and that he was so glad that he stuck with it rather than giving up.
I hope that the same happens for you.
Good luck and keep us posted on how things go for you.

Hi Cassie.
I started Seroquel too a couple of weeks ago. I am experiencing the same as you in regards to 12 hours of sleep. I hear that goes away in time.
