Hey guys..i know the title sounds gross. This is what has been happening to me. I will see this weird moving flash of light in front of my eyes, and then the headache hits, and I cannot stop vomiting. The first time this happened I went to the hospital. They gave me morphine and some meds to stop me from puking. I had this again the other day and I was wondering..does anyone have this awful thing? What do you do? Do you work knowing that it could hit any time? This is hell! Thanks for your response..-A

Hi. I get migraines and very often the first warning signs are little dots of light and sometimes just a weird kind of light, or aura, as they call it. There are medications that can be taken at the very first sign of a migraine, before the pain hits, that will help. If I haven't taken my medication (Fiorinal) then the headache will be accompanied by nausea, which just makes the pain ten times worse. If you haven't seen a doctor for this, you should.

I get migranes quite frequently and unfortunatly the only thing that helps me (the medication doesnt even help me) I have to sleep. I have to put myself in a dark room, and if it is not dark enough I cover my eyes. I also get a cold cloth and put on my forhead or back of the neck or i fill a bag with ice and put it on the part of my head that hurts the worse. The cold seems to help with the pain. Sometimes I might even take a small amount of sleep aid to make sure that I stay asleep cause if I even wake up in the slightest I am running to the restroom to vomit and then the pain hits again and it is hard to fall back asleep. Sometimes 2-3 hours sleep with cure it...and sometimes after an 8 hour night I wake up and I still ache but it is not as intense and I can take an over the counter med and that helps get me through the rest of the day. Either way, I remain queezy long after the migraine is gone.

I hope that this helps!

Thanks for the responses..They say no one is for sure what actually causes itit, but what do you think makes the naseua and/or vomiting happen? Is it that the pain is so intense? I have to do more research on this, and I will definatley talk to my Dr. aboutmeds..Thanks again.

Yes, definitely have a talk with your doctor about your headaches. I think in my case it's the pain that brings on the nausea. My worst migraines are the ones that happen during the night because by the time the pain wakes me up it's too late for my medication to work. Like Mrs. Wilson said, sometimes a cold compress helps a bit and my daughter got me one of those masks that you keep in the fridge and that helps. I can't sleep or even put my head down because it just makes the pain worse and that's usually when I'm nauseous too.

Vagus nerve aggravation. Vommiting relieves it.

Hello,

I know what you are going through. I have very, very violent vomitting when I get migraines. A few times at work I have found myself "dashing" to the nearest restroom to be sick. Then find myself sick for hours. It takes quite some time before I am able to actually walk again...then find my way back out...then usually get sent home.

It's pretty brutal...I feel ya. Lemme know if you find anything that works. Mine are ruining my ability to work!! :dizzy:

Take Care
