Tell him every one of your symptoms and be completely honest. Good Luck!

Hello sharonamy,
Nice to hear from you. I agree wth Jules. Tell the pdoc exactly how you feel--try to structure the comments in a time frame and say how it affects your daily activities. Remember that hypomania or mania can present in many ways other than what we typically think of us feelings of euphoria or grandiose thinking. Irritability, agitation, intense anger or rage, racing thoughts, rapid speech and disorganized thought are all symptoms as well. You are right that it is usually a good idea to say "this is what's going on; this is how it's impacting my life," and then let the professional draw conclusions. If you see any pattern, like feeling depressed in Fall and super energetic in spring, or something along that line that would show distinct changes in mood, be sure to mention that, too.
Good luck to you. Please come back and let us know how the appointment went!!

thankyou. feel really down today. have waited so long for this apt but now i am rendered speechless. hopefully will be able to get it all out later. its so hard having so much inside and so little time with complete stranger to evaluate your mind.

Hi ,
I know what you mean. How can they possibly figure out what all is wrong in such a short period of time? My son went through 4 different pdocs before he found one that was able to help him. The others just pushed pills and changed the med every single month. Very frustrating. Hope you had better luck today!! Let us know when you are back from your appointment.
