Hiya all,

i have been suffering from headachs since september 06,anyway today i went to see the neuroglist and he is booking me in for an MRI which im scared stiff about,as im terrified they will find a tumor, but also i am going to have to have something called a lumbar puncture as i could have Idiopathic intracranial hypertension, i have read up on Idiopathic intracranial hypertension and you could go blind! so im panicking..does anybody have or know of Idiopathic intracranial hypertension? has anyone had a lumbar puncture done?? and are MRI scans scary?

Yes i have had a lumbar puncture done before and i would not wish it upon anyone, i had it done to check the pressure of the fluid in the spinal canal because of headaches, i was told that i might get a slight headache from the procedure but this did not worry me because i already suffered with bad headaches so a slight headache was nothing, about 1 hour after the procedure was done i had one of the worse headaches i have ever had
i ended up in hospital for several days because of the headache and could not sit up because it felt like my head was going to explode i was also given strong pain medication as well so to help with the pain. As for having an MRI scan it is a fairly easy procedure and not to scary most places will even play some music for you to make you more comfortable and as for the results of the scan i would rather know what is happening with my body and deal with it than sit around not knowing.
