Ok, I've been changing up my diet a bit after doing research and have some questions.

I am currently 6'3", 260 lbs, somewhere between a 40 and 42 inch waist (40 is too tight, 42 falls off). I am trying to lose weight, currently shooting for about 210 lbs, then we'll see how the gut looks after that. I am more muscle than fat and from most calculators I have used, 210 lbs should be about right for me.

I have been reading and found that I should be eating about 12 times my weight in calories each day... that's about 3100 calories for me to lose weight. wow... I love it. I had been eating ~2000, quite possibly even less as I am now counting them closeley (I believe I am also snacking much less though due to the counting, reducing my calories quite a bit). My first question is, is this right? This seems like way more food than I should be eating to lose weight as I am trying to slowly raise the calorie count.

I do run/walk (working towards running the whole time) 2 to 2 1/2 miles mon/wed/fri and walk the same route sun/tues/thurs. I also do 40 crunches, 30 leg lifts, and 20 pushups all 6 nights and on the walk only nights I add 3x10 concentration curls or standing curls and 3x15 kickbacks (I think that's the right name... it's a tricep excercise).

Should I really be eating 3000+ calories/day to lose weight?

Yep. Sounds right to me. IMO, the lowest you should go is 10 times your B.W. As you start to lose weight you'll have to lessen your calorie intake, but im sure you know that. :) Cardio in your target heart rate zone(Jogging/Running) will burn more calories, but also some muscle. Cardio at 50-65% of your maximum heart rate for 30-45 mins will burn fat and lessen the amount of muscle destuction. Personally, I want to keep all the muscle I can. Running for long periods sucks anyway.

Wow, great. This should make dieting a whole lot easier. 3100 calories probably was pretty limited for me once upon a time, but between being used to eating smaller amounts to try to keep my calories down and the low calorie foods I am now trying to eat, 3100 calories is tons of food.
