Why YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!

The high side of my BP is characterised by EXTREME rage!! They disappeared soon after starting Tegretol.

I was initially on 100mg am, 100mg pm. This was quickly increased to 200 am, 100 pm. I stayed on this for a good while but then my instability (especially with relation to my depression) came back. My dose was increased to 200mg am, 200mg pm. I then stayed on this for another good while.

My dose was then increased to 300mg am, 300pm due to further instability (depression though - not rage). However, at this dose I lost my short term memory so was put on the time release formula - TEGRETOL RETARD. With my mood still slipping I was put up to 200mg am, 600mg pm.... this is working a treat for me....

but YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11 For my rage (which was absoutley horrific - anyone got it!!!!!!!) - it has been a god-send.... and I know my fiance would agree with me....

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you give it a try - if it doesn't help you can always stop it.

Good Luck,
The 'calm' Nut.

I haven't taken tegretol (carbamazepine) myself, but a quick scan of the literature certainly confirms that calming impulsive aggression (i.e. rage:blob_fire ) is one of the drugs primary benefits. They are even using it for children with BPD and/or behavior disorders. You should be feeling much less irritable and less quick to anger soon.

Let us know how it works/doesn't work for you:)

Watch out for those stomach aches that come with Tegretol. That and the twitching.

sharonamy,
don't be afraid... side effects are different for everyone... as I mentioned, the ONLY side effect I had was dizziness (severe for two days) when doses were increased, and then a short tern memory prob (which was overcome by taking a time release tab).

good Luck,
Nut
