I'm sure I'm opening myself up for criticism, but those hand gripper things, that are just spring-loaded that you close in your hand, do they actually work and help your wrists or forearms?

Hello, They've never worked for me. I don't know about everyone else though. What really works for me are free weights.

Try tying a rope to a dumbell and make sure it won't slide around (a hockeystick piece with a hole is perfect) then tie a weight to the end of the rope and roll it up slowly and then down slowly, you'll feel it right away, by the end I can't even close my hand

Hello, I'm no professional, but the Arnold Scharzeneigher books are great. You can also find more body building books in your local library. The body building books will have various exercises you can do with free weights. I do all the standing ones. Haven't started the lieing down ones yet. You know the curls, butterfies, etc.
