At the gym i see people bounce the wieght off there chest and arch the back. Its seems like they can lift more with this method. Is this beneficial in anyway.

No, no, no... this is extremely, horrendously poor form. One might be able to "get more up" but it doesn't have anything to do with muscle or strength. It's all momentum and leverage and you're begging for a cracked sternum. This is the epitome of ego lifting. Avoid this at all costs.

I allready figured that much. But i wasnt sure i got into an argument with my gym partner over it. I love that last thing, Ego lifting hahahahhaha im gonna use that one. THanks ;)

I see people doing this all the time and its kinda funny. It reminds me of the people that swing the dumbells and curl bar and use the momentum to lift it back up. What a waste of time, they might as well go home and do something productive.
I make sure to get full benefit from the whole lift. Slowly bring the weight down to get the negative lift on each rep. Makes it a little tougher but if it wasn't tough to build muscle then every Tom, Dick and Harry would be built and taking up space in the Gym.
Remember get the negative lift on each rep!!!
