Hi. I have some worries I am hoping someone can help me put to rest.

I have been married for a few years now. My wife and I have a 2 and a half year old. A few years before I met my wife, I had unprotected sex with someone. As far as I know, I have not had an H.I.V test in my life. I had to have some bloodwork done before my wife gave birth because they had to check my RH Factor. But I do not know if they checked for any STD's or H.I.V. My wife says she doesn't recall being tested for H.I.V. during her pregnancy.

Other than being sick on-and-off from allergies due to the weather changing so frequently lately, I do not believe I have ever shown any symptoms of H.I.V. I have actually been putting on weight lately, as opposed to losing any. But nonetheless, I am still concerned.

I have a friend who knows a bit about medicine since he studied to be a physician before joining the Armed Forces. He told me he is 99.9% sure I am fine, and that I would have shown some sign by now. And that sometime during my wife's pregnancy they "should" have tested her. But I am not totally sure, and neither is my wife.

So I was wondering if anyone would know if my wife or son have been tested. I would feel better knowing they were okay before I decided to get tested myself. I have no been with anyone sexually since my wife, so I know I am okay for as long as we've been together. But I still am worried about my son. So can anyone ease my mind at all, or point me in a direction to find out if he's been tested. I know he's had a lot of blood tests during the first two years of his life from his pediatrician. But I just don't KNOW offhand if he's been test for H.I.V.

Thanks to anyone who responds.

hello,i seriously doubt you or your wife or son have ever been tested.
its not mandatory and if they did, they would have you sign a release form that would let you know exactly what your being tested for and would tell you as such before they tested you.(i'm sure thats the law to cover thier butt for lawsuit)so that would be 3 times they would of told you and if you don't know, the odds are great that they didn't.
that being said the odds are very much in your favor that you are all ok.
never go by any symptoms to try to determine your status, getting tested is the only real way to know. if you have any doubts go get tested and put them to rest.
i really think you are worrying over nothing myself good luck!
