Hi I had an ear tube in my ear about 3 weeks ago do to middle ear effusion, and 3 weeks later my ear is still clogged up and i have bad tinnitus, I dont know what to do I thought that my ear would feel unlcogged after the ear tube, the doctor even vaccumed out wax and he said all is open now, but i am still clogged up, what could this be,he even said that maybe the eustacian tube maybe a bit closed up, I dont know what to do about this, and I cant find any specialist in my area to see me for a 2nd opinion.
I am supposed to see my doc next week, has anyone had this problem it seems that the ear tube is causing more distress than anything.

Hi ... I assume that your ENT ran some tests, found decreased hearing in the ear (which you interpret as feeling "clogged", right?), and saw evidence through the drum (or by tympanometry) of a middle ear infection which needed to be drained (hence the tube), and maybe gave some meds to clear up the infection. My guess is that when he sees you next week he'll run them again, see if the infection is still there, and then decide what to do next. The tube was a conservative first step, and he'll take it from there, so it makes sense to see it through with your doc before looking elsewhere.
I'm probably getting a tube myself, and would be very interested to know how loud it sounded when it was inserted: inaudible, or moderately quiet, or really loud (like a slamming door, say). Thanks, and good luck.
