I am going to a preventive medicine place on may 4th. They have several doctors there, the one I am seeing has worked at the cleveland clinic and other hospitals. He has fibromyalgia. They work on diet & natural supplements and alternative medicines as well as rx's. It cost $250 for an office visit, but the visit is 3 to 3 1/2 hours. Some of the blood work will be covered through my insurance, some not.

Anyone have any experience at a place like this? or any thoughts?

The doctor I have been seeing is an osteopath so he uses alternative as well as conventional medicine with the emphasis on the alternative. I have been very pleased with the results. He is not on my insurance and they do not cover the alternative treatments like vitamin IVs. It has been worth the cost because I am getting well. I say go for it. I believe you will have much better results than you will if you see a more traditional doctor.

BetsyAnn -

I'd be curious to know what types of treatments you are getting and if you suggest anything that may be helpful or not helpful. Thanks!

Nancy

I will definitely share my visit with everyone. The thought of sitting down with a dr for 3 hrs seems crazy, but I think It will be worth it.

I used to rant and rave about privatized health care because not everyone can afford it and its not fair, but I need to at least give it a try. I will not go into debt but money will be tight!

Hi Nancy. On the first visit I recieved intraveneous vitamins and minerals and adrenal cortex for adrenal fatigue. I immediately felt a significant improvement in my energy level. He put me on a anti-candida diet, along with an anti-fungal medication. That eliminated the "arthitis", I had suffered with for years, in my knees and ankle. He also sugguested I take probiotics, digestive enzymes, omega-3 (I was already on those), and a multivitamin.

On subsequent visits I did some unconventional allergy testing and did some allergy shots.

I talked him into LDN (low dose naltrexone) several months ago. That has almost completely eliminated any fibro pain I was experiencing. It has also helped tremendously with brain fog.

Unfortunately, I still have alot of fatique. I did check out the book that Elmhar refers frequently, "From Fatigued to Fantastic." I must say that it is very informative. After reading it I concluded that I may a sleep disorder. I went to my family doctor and he concluded that I most likely have sleep apnea. I did my first test last night.

I am really excited. My pain and fog are gone and I am very hopeful that treating the sleep apnea with eliviate most of my fatigue.
