Is there any way to counter act the extreme hunger that some of the meds bring on? Is there anything I can take to counter the munchies?
I don't think doctors understand - they just say to put the food down and drink more water.
It's ashame to discard a good med for one bad side effect.

My problem seems to be once I start eating, I can't seem to stop.
So, I try things like popcorn and carrots, which I can eat a lot of and it's better for me than a bag of m&m's. My hunger attacks have come less frequently since I've been on the meds for a while. I seem to remember being BOTTOMLESS at first! If that's the case- try to eat low cal foods, fruit, veggies etc even though that's not what you crave. It's worked for me.

I carry water all day with me at work. It doesn't help a bit or I would be losing weight now. If I don't eat I shake like a leaf. I don't know what to do except to exercise more and eat more fruits and veggies. Rabbit food in otherwords.
I don't have any suggestions other than to say that you are not alone!! I also get so hungry and seem to want to eat and eat and eat without getting full. Then, one or two days later, I am fine and can eat like normal withoug much munching. It is unnerving to be like this, as I know this could easily pack on the pounds. What to do.....woe is us.
I also drink a lot of water daily and have a glass of water with fresh, squeezed lemon in it every morning (helps with any fluid retention). The trick is to eat small things (with protein in them) througout the day. I start with a hard boiled egg in the morning. Yogurt (or a can of tuna w/lo-fat dressing) and an apple for lunch; handful of almonds & walnuts for afternoon snack; meat (high in protein) and a veggie for dinner; and either popcorn or kashi crackers for a snack. On good days, this works marvelous for me. It is a matter of eating lots of protein throughout the day. The protein tends to fill you up and cuts down on the munchies.
Hope this helps. Good luck, and hang in there!
