Hello,
I would like to know if any of you take CoQ10 for aiding energy production and healthy heart function? What are your experiences? What's your daily dose? :)
Thank you!

I take 300mg per day (150) 2 times a day and it has increased my energy a ton, among many other benefits. :D

I take coQ10 and have not noticed any general increase in energy. Of course, I could have more energy and just not be tuned into it, or I could have more energy than otherwise if I stopped taking it. I am committed to taking it, however, because coQ10 facilitates energy exchange at the cellular level, not necessarily making one consciously FEEL more energetic.
I read a post by someone once who said he had stopped taking it because he didn't notice any difference, but then started taking it again after he read all the good things it does for one.

Thanks for your replies!
My main reason for taking CoQ10 is being on a prescription, cholesterol lowering drug which is known to block its production. I don't want to risk acquiring irreversible muscle damage. (I know it could still happen).
Another reason is the fact that aging causes our cellular levels of CoQ10 to decline. Therefore, taking this supplement is a win/win situation for me.
When I consulted my doctor about CoQ10, he suggested I take 120mg/day.
(I have been taking that amount daily). I don't feel this dose is adequate! I am on several prescription drugs in addition to the statin and feel I should up my dose. My energy level has been pretty low, to say the least. (Side effects of the meds). I could use some help with that, too!

I've seen articles recommending twice daily up to 300mg and a second one twice daily up to 200mg. I don't take medication and take 100mg once a day.

I'm taking it mostly on the recommendation of my acupuncturist who is also an herbologist. I haven't seen an increase in my engergy either but granted, I haven't been feeling particularly fatigued. Seems a lot of people do notice a difference though.

Now I know why I haven't been able to fall asleep lately. I have been taking the CoQ10 for my heart before bed. I take all my vitamins at bed time since the body heals while it sleeps and if I take them throughout the day I'll destroy most of them with caffine.
Guess I'll take that one with my lunch from now on. I've been a very perky upset girl cause I have not been able to get to sleep. This morning I did not go to bed till 7am for the past couple of days been up till around 5 am

Hi, :)
that may be true, the body rests and heals when we sleep. If you ply it with synthetic substances (no matter how good they may be for you) before bedtime, you are setting a lot of internal processes in motion. Certain chemicals are released. Your body wakes up, your digestive system goes to work. All this goes on when your body should be at rest! When you cannot get enough sleep to restore your body's energy levels and natural chemical and mineral balances, you get tired and feel rundown. That cannot be good for your well-being long- term.
I take many prescription drugs and supplements. The best time to take them, I think, is in the mornings.(Unless stated otherwise in the instructions). It took a while and some experimenting and a lot of nausea and sickness on my part to figure out what worked best for me. Depending on the amount of yours, you might want to split them into two groups and take one early in the morning and the other at lunchtime. Anyway, I hope this helps a little. Your body needs a break while you sleep!
Take care,

Since 1992 I've taken Lysine, L-Carnitine,chromium picolinate 1 Bayer aspirin and caffeine pills in the morning before the gym.
Over the years I've added vitamins now for lunch and dinner I added the others:
Lunch= multi mushrooms, inositol, B-6, mulit B vitamin, Cenogen Ultra, Hemocyte Plus (iron pill), (now added CoQ10), Vitamin C, Aloe Vera, pH pills
Dinner= take stuff for the heart and sleep: Flax seed oil, cholesterol formula plus a multi oil, Acetyl L -Carnitine, triflex, inositol (gives better sleep), pH pills
I've always been an insomniac even as a kid. I am use to not sleeping. Since I have added the inositol, B-6,& B12 I sleep much better now. I get about 6-7hours of sleep compared to the 2-4 hours I use to get. I could go days with out sleeping. Inositol is B-8 vitamin that enhances REM sleep.

Squeaky, :)
6-7hours of quality sleep should be sufficient. That's what I get now that I've done away with my drug-induced insomnia. I just take my second batch of pills earlier in the afternoon, not in the evening as I used to. I learned the hard way, staying up nights, sick with nausea. Have you heard of valerian tea? I've never tried it, but it's supposed to help with insomnia, according to an earlier thread on this board. Good to know.

Oh yeah I tried the valerian root. It takes about 2 weeks for the herbs to work on me and then they only last for about a week. I get use to chemicals really quick.
I take 2 max strength sleepinals and a xanax along with the vitamins in order to get to sleep. I took 2 sleeping pills an hour ago with out the xanax and here I am wide awake. Next week I will have to change to 2 sleeping pills and valium or Soma or flexeril. Bayer asprin sometimes will relax me better than the Xanax. I have a screwed up chemistry.
I got worse with my sleeping when I started the grave yard and twlight shifts at the casino. I quit 5 years ago but my sleeping is still messed up. One day hopefully I will be normal.
