Yes im on Yasmin. It's a Birth Control pill so its 99% effective in preventing pregnancy. Ive been on it for a year now, and have had no problems yet. And yes my acne has greatly improved. I use to be on ortho lo and then solia but then the main reason i switched to yasmin was to lose some weight...or well to not gain anymore...and that has helped also.
AND all BC pill, the patch, shot, even nuvaring has serious side effects...but the chance of getting them is low. But this goes with every medicine you put in your body. All around its a great pill, probably my favorite that i have been on so far. But kind of expensive if you dont have insurance which is my problem right now.

I loved Yasmin too. I lost weight (10+ lbs) and no serious side effects until...
18 months later, my hair started to thin drastically, from the Yasmin. Yasmin is great for hair it pushes all of your hair into the "growth" phase. However, eventually that ends and then you lose that hair- basically at the same time. (Normally your hair growth/loss/new hair is more staggered)It was very dramatic for me and I'm just starting to recover.
Research it carefully- after this I decided I'd rather be fat and have beautiful, healthy hair than skinny and bald. (Yes I had bald spots.)
Good Luck in your decision process.

i was on yasmin for about 5 months and didn't care for it at all. My doctor had prescribed it after I stopped breastfeeding. Yasmin made me have TERRIBLE cramps and a long long....LONG uncomfortable, heavy period...

Another thing to keep in mind with Yasmin and Yaz is that they contain a diuretic, which is supposed to prevent bloating during PMS. Because of the diuretic, majority of women who finally go off the Yaz or Yasmin find that they feel very bloated and very gross from not having that diuretic every day as they did when they were still taking it. So the withdrawal from coming off Yaz and Yasmin is a lot worse than when coming off one of the other pills.

And just for the record, no birth control pill is going to help you lose weight. If anything, women on BC end up gaining due to the excess estrogen that their body has as a result of being on the pill. Something to think about, for sure.

I'm so glad to hear a positive response from a user of Yaz. I have been on orthrotricylene for 14 years my weight gain is steadily increasing although I been working out religiously for about 4 month. My Dr. has wants me to try Yaz. I will start my first pack Sunday. I am so hoping for a great experience.

I BEG you, do not take this pill.

1) raised my cholesterol (see my post above)
2) I had the same "love affair" with yasmin that many of these people posting had. I lost the 10 pounds. No boob pain. No bloat. I was on top of the world. I felt GREAT. For about 6 months...
3) Then all this greatness wore off.... I had horrible mood issues. Severe anxiety and depression that went away once I went off it.
4) The skin issues... do some ****** looking. I have a permanent discoloration on my upper lip and never knew why it came out of nowhere. It was the yasmine. Also, I have always had GORGEOUS skin and started noticing a dryness and more wrinkles (I am 28). It was the yasmin. My doctor even confirmed this with me.
5) I lost A LOT Of hair after going off this pill on two occasions. I mean CLUMPS. Both times I went back off it - scary amount. Doctor said being on it makes your bosy think you are prego so going off it makes you lose the extra hair. Come on... it is not normal.

The cholesterol is the worst. I am convinced it was the yasmin. I also tried yaz and while my periods were better in terms of shorter, less painful, etc, the yaz didn't have the same weight loss effect - in fact I gained.

It RUINED my metabolism. You have to understand I don't have scientific proof, but all my symptoms match with others. They have that great "weight loss" but then your body depends on it and it ruins your metabolism. If you ever go off it, forget about trying to lose the 20 pounds that come back on..... So you lose 10 pounds in water weight, but you have to understad...

YASMIN has a dueretic IN IT and the body DEPENDS on that and stops naturally getting rid of excess water when it starts to depend on Yasmin. It is bad...!!

Sorry this is so negative, but if I can at all prevent anyone from going thruogh the he.ll I did, so be it.

See I never knew that BCP could be the cause of hair loss. I was loosing hair daily on Desogen. When I switched to Loestrin about 3 months later I read a post on here that BCP can cause you to loose hair. I have not lost any hair on Loestrin. When I use to wash my hair I'd have a handful of it but thought it was normal cause you can loose up to 100 hairs a day. I was up to 100. Now when I wash m y hair I only have 1-5 loose hairs that fall.

Any BCP can cause you to have Melasma, the darkening of the skin.

I don't know if it's all BCP but since I switched to Lo my cholersterol went from 211 to 286. I don't have proof yet I'm working on that.

I think each pill just works different for everyone. I just hate trying new BCP I feel like a lab rat.
