The easiest definition I can give you is that this test tells the doctor how much iron is sticking to the blood cells to try to make them transport oxygen. It is a complex system. If the TIBC is high, it usually means something has gone wrong in the iron regulation system. It is something that has to be addressed by your hematologist. |
