View Full Version : Vision dilemma

I have had a lazy eye on and off for years since a really bad case of ON in '91. It finally went away when my vision returned (sort of) in that eye. Then I had another case of ON in '03 and the eyes went haywire again. Now; however, I'm thinking my glasses might be contributing to it because when I take them off, the lazy eye disappears; and with my glasses on, I can see clearly through each lens individually, but together-- no. Just a super big blur. Could the "centers" be off? Could that be exacerbating the problem?

Lisa,
When is the last time you saw your opthamologist or had a prescription change?? It sounds like you really need to be seen. Dont wait- ON can be treated so much better if you get on Steroids right away! But, in all honestly, what you are describing, should be checked...and if you DID have it checked, what was said?
There are neuro-Opthamologists out there, who specialize in Neuological disorders of the eye, you might want to try to find one in your area and make an appt...
Take care.

Lisa,

I'm an optician, and if the two eyes are NOT coming together it can produce many problems. See, your eye is constantly searching for the optical center of the lens IF it's not properly measured. This could cause headaches, crossed eyes, and even as you mentioned a lazy eye, because one eye is doing all the work. I'd definitely go back to the optometrist and get this checked.

These glasses have never been "right" and I've been wearing them since October '05... Stopped back at the clinic where I got them the next month and the lady said if I can see out of each lens sharply they should be fine and I just needed to get used to them. (The doctor didn't see me that time.) I've wondered ever since... I guess I should have pursued it further.

So I suppose I should get a check up! I know the weak eye IS getting weaker so it's a good idea anyway.

I got to see a neur-op when I was dx'd in '03 -- that was cool. I mean, all the tests--! I must have been in that office half a day...
