I've never really done sit-ups regularly, but I tried today at the gym and they felt fantastic. Does anyone who does sit-ups regularly know what kind of results I can get from adding them to my workouts?

Sponsor Smartpants 04-27-2007, 09:32 PM funny, i was coming on to ask the exact same question. unless one is looking to get a 6 pack (which im not), why would one want to do sit ups/crunches? FromSqueaky 04-29-2007, 10:37 PM Sit ups will make your muscles under the skin and fat stronger. If you want definition in your abs like a 6 pack you'll need to include cardio to burn the fat over it other wise you will never see them. Over all strengthening your core area is always a plus. You use your stomach indirectly when doing other muscle groups. Strengthening your stomach helps the rest of your body After a few weeks you will need to add weights or change the way you do sit up. Your body gets use to routines and stops working as well. Therefore one should change their routine every 4-6 weeks. davidj18224 05-06-2007, 05:26 PM This has DEFINATELY worked for me with the knees bent! Other ways you can do em ., lay flat on the floor, raise your legs ankeles, open & close your legs this will target the lower portion of the stomach., yea watch the diet, do twists with a base ball bat! man70 05-06-2007, 05:30 PM a strong stomach is always a plus. perhaps you should try the following exercise (it has certainly worked for me): 1. 50 crunches (knees bent) 2. 25 russian twists (right side) 3. 25 russian twists (left side) 4. 50 crunches (legs flat) 5. 50 russian twists (right and left side alternating) NON STOP after this your stomach will feel like charcoal burning but you will definitely see results within the month. china_roses 05-10-2007, 07:58 PM ok, well i would LOVE to have abs, but obviously since im a girl, i dont want to have a six pack. im not chubby, but i want to make it more defined because i think it would help my confidence because i quit doing them after i was forced to take aerobics last semester. if anyone knows some things that i could do to get my flat tummy back that would be so awesome. thanks!! |
