Hi everyone, although I've been reading for awhile, this is my first post. I started peri-menopause around January 05 and my last cycle was on 5/24/06. So I am anxiously awaiting 5/24/07 "the one year" rule which will put me officially into menopause.

But two days ago, I noticed blood approx the size of a half-dollar and then nothing more. Obviously it wasn't the start of a period. Don't really know what it's about. And now I have myself crazy that there is something serious going on. My mind is my worst enemy. I haven't had nothing since 5/24/06 and now this spot of blood. If this has happened to anyone, is it normal?

I know from reading these posts that everyone here is so helpful and understanding. Thank you all.

Hi, I had a friend that was right at the 1 year mark and she started to spot just alittle. A week or two later had a full blown period. In some places other than the US, they don't consider you are in menopause until you have gone 18 months without a period. I wouldn't worry about it if your checkups have been fine. I don't always think that 1 year mark is exact for everyone. Take care, Ann

I am worrying about this too, and can only offer empathy! I went for 7 months with no periods, then had one day of about a teaspoon size spot. Now a further 10 months and I feel that slight 'draggy' feeling in the lower belly and back - and have spotted once today! I have also had severe gerd constantly for the last year, having never suffered in my life with even indigestion before. This is all so frustrating...I keep thinking it must be cancer (as do many of us):(
